 She was there at the crossroads of my last breath of my last life...And the first of what I call this ‘gimcrack’ one.

She, a selongacious beauty, narcotisin’ melancholy and her sex in my veins,

Her voice etched in my other consciousness, a honey hush whisper… 
“Wait for me Jimmy”.

A vamptress with sin satin talons, flarin’ above the coronade of 
her viper tresses,

Alurin’ me by her mystical  flamenco and a funereal lily parfum,

A beaut-evil nightmare.

Stokin’ this my fortease fetish.

Trying to reconnect me with the religiosity of a past life that I never got to complete.

I didn’t know whether she had conjured me or I 
had summoned her,

And for thirty years she stalked and haunted me 
in phantasmic reverie.

Never of the real, just an amorphic veil…

I call her my Shadow Bride.

They sent me back in ’58, after I cut myself a reprieve

Resurrecting through a canopic veil into this neon noir voodoo limbo.

The violence of my death tattooing a scarlet patina on my soul-heart, always looping me to the fetish of 40’s Hollywood...And the unholy hustle of Sin Alley, Fifth and Main, L.A., 1946… sad striptease, jazz, and harlotry

My soul-eye clicking over visions of a past murder and a past life that always seemed to be out of focus.

But for one that stalked me.

For in the netherworld of that death bullet diablo and this, my resurrection, was an image that burned of another dark damzelle in a noir veil.

She could have been a doppelganger twin to the ‘Strumpet of the Flowers’ to whom I’d sung ‘The Girl I Left Behind’ in laments of doomed shellac.

And this sirene had me all wired up with a hangover from her unrequited kiss.

Hustling sin skin and scam for the Dragna syndicate

From a pleasure house jazz-bar called the ‘Tallulah’s Boudoir’ on the twilight side of Sin Alley, Fifth and Main, Los Angeles, 1946.

I cut a couple of jazz torch discs to a bar angel of underworld Hollywood, the Black Dahlia, which went all the way to the top of the palookaville hit parade… Just like her.

I bought the big fall in a mob brawl, December 1947,

In a skid bar off Fifth and Main under an unholy hail of rosary bead bullets, blessed and ordained by Mickey Cohen triggers Eli Lubin and Ichabold Bronkowitz… 

My cadaver carved and sluiced into San Pedro harbour, enchained in a farewell soundtrack of warped Artie Shaw records.

My murderers lampooning my demise as they trashed my corpse to the waters.

"Something to sing along to Vargas, while you go about the business of being dead."

My Ka-spirit already ciphered, into a chinoise bell jar, as a celluloid slither.

By a Witch of Hollywood Boulevard, in a black mass ceremony.
